What the conversion keeps

The words come across, including bold and italic where the file has them, and simple tables read as text. The file on the desk is that new PDF. The .docx on your computer is left as it was.

What stays behind

Page breaks will not match the Word pagination. Headers, footers, and tracked changes are not copied. Comments in the margin do not become a Word redline. When you download the comparison, it is a PDF with marks on the page. An old .doc file cannot be read. Save it as .docx or PDF in Word, then upload that.

Then it is a normal compare

Compare marks one file line by line: red where the text differs, green where only that file has the line, orange where the other file has lines this one lacks. The report ranks that list. It does not invent extra differences. Two PDFs that already contain text are handled on compare two PDFs.

When the PDF is a photo of the signed pages, use compare a scanned PDF next to this converted draft. DocuGaps is not a law firm. Check the page the citation points at.

Free to try, then a seat

There is nothing to sign up for first: open a file and use 5 free AI requests. To keep going, continue with Google and pick Standard at $9 /seat/month or Pro at $29 /seat/month. Until you sign in, your files stay in this browser; after, the files you save stay on your account. A report or an edit sends the pages it needs to OpenAI. The privacy page names what is stored.

Questions

Can I compare a Word document and a PDF online?
Yes. A .docx is accepted and converted to a PDF from its text. A .doc file is not. Save that as .docx or PDF in Word first.
Will I get a Word file with tracked changes?
No. The comparison marks the PDF on the desk, and the download is a PDF with those marks. It is not a redline you accept inside Word.
Are the two files shown side by side?
Yes. The converted Word file and the PDF open on the same desk. Up to six files can be open at once.
Does a font change count?
The check runs on the converted text. A difference in font, margin, or page break that does not change the words is not what the marks are for.
